The Association of Fundraising Professionals Western New York chapter today will celebrate National Philanthropy Day by honoring community members who are making a difference for local non-profit organizations. Three members of the Roswell Park family will be recognized.

Linda Kahn, Director of Special Campaigns for the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, will be given the Earle Hannel Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award. Linda has served as a tenacious, dedicated and compassionate member of the Roswell Park team for the last 18 years. She has led countless successful fundraising campaigns throughout her career at Roswell Park, including our first-ever capital campaign, Horizons of Hope, which reached a goal of $21 million to build the Center for Genetics and Pharmacology; the Leaders for Life endowment drive which realized another $20 million in endowment assets for the scientific chairs at Roswell Park; and a $2.2 million drive to secure a new robot. She now leads the Making Room to Save Lives capital campaign to build Roswell Park's new Clinical Sciences Center. The campaign has realized $22 million to date.

Cumulus Media (formerly Citadel Broadcasting) will be honored with the Outstanding Philanthropic Media Award for their charitable efforts. Cumulus Media-Buffalo is comprised of 97 Rock, 103.3 The Edge, Classic Hits 104.1, Swing 1270, The Buffalo Bills Radio Network, and the NFL Buffalo Jills here in Buffalo. Cumulus continues to provide outstanding support throughout the year for Roswell Park and The Ride For Roswell. They are also dedicated contributors to many other local non-profits including the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Buffalo City Mission.

Pediatric cancer survivor and Carly's Club member Sean McNamara will be recognized as a Distinguished Honoree by Roswell Park. Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 13, Sean became an active Carly's Club member and a good friend to many of his fellow patients. As he grew older, he chose to give back to Roswell Park by becoming a dedicated and consistent volunteer for both Carly's Club fundraising events and The Ride For Roswell. In her nomination, Senior Special Events and Carly's Club Coordinator Robin Hace referred to Sean as "an extension of our staff" because of his ongoing commitment.

Congratulations to all the honorees and each of our loyal supporters in the community!
