Share your Ride experience through pictures, videos, blogs and more! Read on to find out how to use sites like Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter to connect with other riders!
Special Safety Note: The safety of all riders is paramount. DO NOT take pictures, use your cell phones, send text messages or tweet while riding.
Blog
The tab "Your Story" here on RideConnect gives you access to your personal blog. Select "Add a Blog Post" to write a new entry. You can also read and comment on posts from other riders!
Flickr (Photos)
To upload your photos to the RideConnect site, select the "Photos" tab above, then click on the "Add a Photo" link. If you’d prefer you can add pictures directly from Flickr, your cell phone, or even your e-mail! For Flickr users, the Ride For Roswell has an official group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/rideforroswell/.
For those unfamiliar with Flickr, it is a popular photo sharing website which allows you to post and share your photographs. You can quickly and easily create an account at http://www.flickr.com/signup/ (Note: Flickr is owned by Yahoo! If you don't have a Yahoo! ID, there is a link from this page to create one.) Tag your Ride photos with "RideForRoswell" so others can find them when they search.
Once you have a Flickr account, have joined the Ride group, and have uploaded your photos, you can add your photos to the Ride For Roswell group in two ways. To add photos to the group one at a time, on the main page for the photo you want to add, click the 'Send to Group' icon immediately above the photo then select "Ride For Roswell" from the drop-down list. If you prefer to add a lot of photos at once, select 'Organize' from the top of the Flickr page, and then use your mouse to drag the photos to the "Drag Here" portion of the page. Lastly, select the "Ride for Roswell" group from to the "Send to Group" tab.
YouTube (Videos)
We encourage anyone who wants to share their Ride videos to post them to YouTube, tag them "RideForRoswell", then import them into RideConnect. If you are new to YouTube, you can create a new account by clicking on the "Sign Up" link in the top right portion of the YouTube home page. Once you have uploaded your video, you can add it to RideConnect by going to http://rideconnect.org/video/video/addEmbed and pasting the "Embed" code from YouTube. If you’re having trouble additional help can be found on the RideConnect video uploading page as well.
Twitter The Ride For Roswell uses Twitter as another tool to help promote and provide coverage of the Ride. We encourage everyone to tweet about the Ride both before the Ride and on Ride day itself. The official hashtag is #RideForRoswell. You can sign up for Twitter at http://twitter.com/. There is an extensive help section to get you started. Specific instructions on how to tweet from your mobile phone are available at http://help.twitter.com/forums/10711/entries/14589.(Again, for the safety of all riders, do not send tweets while riding.)
